Thought you all might want to know that Dad is not doing well. Last Monday he was transferred back to the hospital in another attempt to regulate his meds. He is sedated most of the time, so we’re not really encouraging visits. But we would like you to be praying for him…and also for all of us.
We’ll keep you posted.
Dr. Rice is often in our thoughts and prayers. His pastoral heart is one of the reasons we came to Oakwood when we knew moving to Anderson was an option, some 18 years ago. We will always have fond memories of him! I remember, whenever I needed fifteen minutes to ask him some questions about our missionaries, I knew to carve out two hours as he would be telling me stories about his experiences most of that time!
We will keep Dr. Rice and the family in our prayers. We miss you all terribly! We wish you all the best and pray for your strength in the tough road ahead.
We have very fond memories of Dr. and Mrs. Rice from all their visits to Bethel Baptist while we attended there. They’re both so sweet! Dr. Rice always had an interesting message and we enjoyed it when he preached. He was also always so happy to see our new babies and was always so kind. We’ll keep him and the family in our prayers.
I am so sorry to hear that Doctor Rice is in such bad shape. He has been a true friend to me through the years. I still have fond memories of the first time “Doc” came to preach for me in VA. I was so honored that he took the time to come and help me in a revival.
He and I have had some wonderful times and experiences through the years. One event that sticks out in my mind was our midnight cab ride in Mexico to find a hamburger. We ended up at the Hamburger Del Rio. You get the picture.
Thanks for putting up this site. I am praying for Doctor Rice and the family. I love him. He is a faithful friend.
Dave
Dr. Rice is in our hearts and prayers, as is the rest of the family. We pray that good progress will continue to be made. He has been a part of our family for so many years. We love you all.

Charity:
Thank you for your daily updates on Dr. Rice. I know many of his friends appreciate your efforts very much.
Dr. Rice was truly an example of teaching people how to trust in the Lord! What a preacher(one of my favorites) and what a soldier of the Cross!
I appreciate the many times I have had with Dr. Rice around Tabernacle in his teaching days. I have learned many things from his Godly example.
May God bless the Rice family during these days
of sickness and may God’s will be done on his behalf. God will give Dr. Rice that “New Grace” when the time comes for him to make the crossing.
Please allow me to leave you with the words of a song…
JUST THINK…
of stepping on shore, and finding it Heaven,
of touching a hand, and finding it God’s,
of breathing new air, and finding it celestial,
of waking up in Glory, and finding it HOME!!

Dear Mrs. Rice & Family,
My heart goes out to you and I want you to know that I love you all. Dr. Rice was a dear friend to me and my family. He was a great soldier for the Lord. I will never forget the ordination message that he brought from II Timothy 2-4 at my ordination: Stand Like Soldier; Serve Like a Servant; Study Like a Scholar; and Sound Forth Like a Seer. May God bless you all as you say “Goodbye” to your husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We love you all.
Love In Christ,
Dave & Teresa
Dear Rice family,
Our hearts are saddened by the loss of Dr. Rice. Our family so loved him. I know that he is rejoicing in heaven with many of his friends that have passed before him. Dr. Rice was a wonderful pastor and friend to my family through the years he was at Oakwoood. He helped me and my family through the loss of Lisa and was always an encouragement to me.
My daughter Lisa is in heaven today because of Dr. Rice and I am sure they are celebrating together in glory.
I will continue to lift you up in my prayers, may the grace of God be with you in the days ahead.
Love, Erchie and Norma
